I am a nail art Spaz. It’s true. I LOVE nail art, and have tried my hand at several techniques. I’m honest with myself, though, and walked away from wasting any more time on it. The women who produce creative, mess-free nail art are talented, plain and simple!
But… I’d love to be able to have fun nails! Most nail salons don’t have technicians who can create any serious art, other than polka dots, so here are five easy nail art ideas for the “nail art challenged” like me!
5 Easy Nail Ideas
Idea 1: The Rainbow Pedicure
This is so simple, and also adorable! The Rainbow Pedicure requires no special skill, just access to a broad enough color selection to create the look. Naturally you can also alter this to be an ombre effect with one color, or any combination of shades you like! During the 80s, I loved to alternate hot pink with aqua blue.
Idea 2: Classic French Manicure With Glitter
I’m really fond of this Classic French Manicure With Glitter style, because imprecise application of glitter generally looks just fine! You can even hit your local nail salon for a professional French manicure first, and then brush a glitter topcoat over a small section of each nail in a diagonal slant.
Idea 3: Add Crystals
Adding Crystals to your mani or pedi with some glue is fairly easy, especially if you chose to only do it on an accent nail. This pedicure looks pretty fancy, but when you dissect it, it’s simple as can be! The accent big toe is simply painted with a different base color, and a few crystals were adhered to a clear top coat in a tribal pattern. Looks gorgeous, and is perfect for cruise season!
Idea 4: The Accent Nail
Keeping the art to a minimum is a great way to succeed. Purchasing a nail stamp kit to add an Accent Nail design to your ring-finger creates minimal work, and if you make a mistake, there are only two nails to correct! The simple scroll design shown above is elegant in a basic black.
Idea 5: Colorful French Manicure
My poor nails have been way too short to try this, but a colorful French manicure is super trendy! Once again, any nail salon is generally equipped to execute this style. If you’d like to try it at home, simply pick a vivid base color, and swipe pure white on the tip. If you don’t feel confident to apply a French manicure free-hand, many retailers sell French tip guides that act as a painter’s tape, to ensure a smooth and even line.
