MAC Shadescents My Heroine

I was first introduced to MAC Heroine lipstick when it was part of the MAC Wonder Woman collection back in 2011 when the shade was actually a universal flattering bronze. Not really the power color you’d expect of the name. When the name Heroine was recycled as part of the MAC Reel Sexy collection, it was a completely different hue. The iconic bold purple you see here is Heroine 2.0, and the limited-edition shade was so popular it eventually made it’s way into the permanent MAC lipstick collection in 2014.

Heroine lipstick is an extremely vivid purple that has with cool undertones and a matte finish. The color is not for the bashful, and the coordinating MAC Shadescents in My Heroine is similarly powerful. To me the scent conjures up the image of a flapper at a speakeasy during the roaring 20s. The scent is woodsy with a touch of leather and tobacco. It’s the scent of a woman who is in charge, likes to play with the boys, and embraces modernity.

MAC Shadescents Candy Yum Yum

While writing a post about a bath and body line back in 2008, I experienced a unique feeling that crossed my sense of sight with my sense of smell. The fragrance I was sampling was quite clearly how the color pink would smell. MAC has challenged themselves to do the same with their new line Shadescents. Each fragrance from the six-scent strong lineup was inspired by a best-selling lipstick shade.

The collection contains a total of six scents, and six lipsticks. The namesake lipstick of each Shadescent is also offered for sale in a limited-edition tube design featuring the color. Candy Yum Yum is a delightfully sweet treat, with sugary fruit notes that are as playful and girlie as the lipstick color. The key note in this fragrance is Exotic Pink Guava, so if you are a lover of tropical fruit you will likely enjoy this scent. Candy Yum Yum lipstick is a bright matte pink.

Lancôme Petite Tresor Eyeshadow, Lancôme Paris En Rose Holiday 2016

Lancôme Petite Tresor Eyeshadow is the reincarnation of Lancôme Ombre Hypnose Mono from seasons past. From Lancôme Paris En Rose Holiday 2016, these shadow singles can be purchased stand-alone, but also work perfectly together as a color-coordinated quad. The formula is incredibly high-pigment, and feels like a powder/cream hybrid during application. The color is bold and the finish is smooth. These shadows can also be used wet or dry, so to amp up that color payoff just add some water!
