Spring
La Mer: The Moisturizing Lotion
Women around the world seem to agree that Creme de la Mer is effective enough to warrant its hefty price tag. Yet, many have yet to sample it.
If you have hesitated to sample this miraculous product due to oily skin, La Mer has an option for you! "The Moisturizing Lotion" contains just as much of La Mer’s patented Miracle Broth as Creme de la Mer… just in a lighter format. Though my skin is actually dry, I personally prefer The Moisturizing Lotion to the Creme for day use. It wears beautifully under makeup.
1.7 oz bottle retails for $185 at Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and La Mer.com.
Hair Advice From Laurent D. of Prive
Laurent Dufourg started his career as an apprentice to Claude Maxime in Paris. Today, his Prive (French for "private") salons in Los Angeles and Manhattan attract celebrity clientele and others in search of the latest techniques and highest quality haircare. Laurent has developed products specifically for these demanding and worldly clients, and his herbal-blended formulas meet the standards of even the most jaded of clients.
I’m so pleased that Laurent has agreed to participate in a question and answer session for the information of Raging Rouge readers!
Jen: What are some common hair dilemmas during the Spring season, and how can we prevent them?
Laurent D: The dilemmas are often similar to wanting a wardrobe change – should someone keep their hair long in a ponytail or a bun all summer, or do you go for a shorter cut easier in hot weather?? To make a decision look at your hair condition – if damaged because of dry hair and over blow drying, cut it – and CONDITION: treat your hair like your skin – depending on your hair condition PRIVE has the solution.
Jen: I personally have problems with flyaway hair. What’s the best way to keep annoying flyaways under control?
Laurent D: The best is our Shine Serum # 52: flyaways do flyaway forever.
Jen: How often should one deep-condition their hair?
Laurent D: At least once a week with our Intensive Mask #26.
Jen: Should hair be cut more or less frequently in the Spring and Summer months?
Laurent D: The summer is rough because of the pool, the heat, the sun and the ocean… My advice is to apply Flash Brilliance at the beach or pool, or for everyday use our Leave In Conditioner #24.
Jen: What are the hot, trendy styles this Spring?
Laurent D: In LA it s more the wavy, long curl iron effect and in NY the Agyness Deyn, the British model syndrome – which is very similar (for people that are old enough) to the Linda Evangelista time.
Jen: What is the must-have, can’t-live-without products my readers should sample from your line, Prive?
Laurent D: The FINISHING TEXTURE SPRAY #89. For years all my clients celebrities or at the salons order in boxes of 6!…. – everyone loves it and uses it for everything – from styling, to holding , or even as a boost between hair wash….
Do check out Laurent D’s fantastic products online at Prive! I’ll also be writing reviews of some of his collection very soon.
Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze Clear Shine Rinse
When someone used to seeing their hair colored allows the color to fade and grow out, it begins to look downright drab. That’s the exact situation I am in. In mid-October 2007, I returned to my roots (so to speak) and dyed my hair back to its natural color. Why? I intended to start trying for baby #2, and while many experts claim it to be safe, I refuse to color or highlight my hair while pregnant.
Trust me… this is not an optimal situation. My hair is currently in dire need of professional attention. But until that magical "safe" moment arrives, I was thrilled to learn of Frederic Fekkai’s new product- Salon Glaze. Salon Glaze is an at-home shine treatment that can be applied right in the shower to add shine and silkiness to the tresses. This non-chemical treatment takes only a few minutes to work, also making it ideal for anyone with limited time.
Hair isn’t weighed down by this product at all, and it can be used by anyone!
Retails for $28 at Sephora.com and Beauty.com. Read more about this product at the Frederic Fekkai website!
La Mer, The SPF 18 Fluid Tint
Ordinarily, I’m a foundation girl. But when the weather turns warmer, I’m in the mood to bare a little skin. La Mer has introduced this amazing water based formula that provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. The slight tint helps even out the complexion, but doesn’t overly cover. Perfect for the beach!
Some tinted moisturizers have barely-there coverage. La Mer’s The SPF 18 Fluid Tint is slightly more opaque than many other tinted moisturizers, making it an instant favorite of this beauty blogger.
Available in three shades to suit any complexion, a 1.7 oz. tube retails for $65 on the La Mer website, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks and Neiman Marcus.
