Now and then, I look at my clothing and wonder about the conditions in the factory it was manufactured. It seems almost impossible to know with 100% certainty that the people making your clothing are 1) adults and 2) treated well. Enter Fair Indigo, a new clothing manufacturer/retailer that is setting the standard for fair labor practices worldwide. They require that all of the manufacturers of their clothing pay a “living wage” to their staff. The people of Fair Indigo describe this as follows:
“it is generally accepted that farmers or workers earning a fair price or wage are able to live relatively comfortable lives within the context of their local area. This means enough money for housing, a generous amount of food, health care, education for children, and some disposable income.”
How wonderful to read about a company that cares, when others seem fixated on the bottom line, at any cost. Plus, Fair Indigo has some beautiful designs!
