MAC Cosmetics N Collection, Nanogold Eye Shadow

Did you know there’s actually a term for people afraid of gold? The term is "Aurophobia". Spring 2008 is an inconvenient time to have such a fear. Gold is hot, hot, hot in the world of beauty this year.

In fact, when MAC Cosmetics recently introduced their new N Collection–chock full of neutral, skin-toned shades– they still chose to include an eyeshadow called Nanogold. This subtle version of gold shadow is perfect for any gold-phobic out there to incorporate a little bling into their cosmetic regime. Rather than being overtly metallic, it’s a creamy beige shade with a hint of gold. Nanogold is more subtle than a true gold, but equally brilliant and glamorous.

MAC Cosmetics N Collection, Tinted Lipglass

With the launch of the MAC N Collection, four new shades have been added to MAC’s legendary (and diverse) Tinted Lipglass selection of over fifty shades. I mentioned in my last post that I certainly have favorites among the products I sampled from the N Collection. Tinted Lipglass is one of them… it’s just stand-out fabulous in my book.

I had the opportunity to sample this gloss in shade 4N, a delicious shade of chocolate brown with a prismatic raisin shimmer. Since the intent of this collection is to make your makeup appear natural, 4N was clearly created with a dark-skinned woman in mind. Immediately upon application, I was in awe. In my opinion, this gloss would create the perfect glossy lip for a woman of African descent. Ladies, if you have dark skin you really must test this one out. I can’t emphasize it enough. You’ll thank me!

That being said… while this shade was not intended to be worn by one with skin as pale as mine, I still fell absolutely head over heels in love. MAC Tinted Lipglass in 4N is much more than just the ultimate glossy, naked lip. When the light hits this gloss from different angles, it reveals a complexity of color that is truly unique and beautiful.

MAC Cosmetics N Collection, Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

I’m just wild about MAC’s new N collection. Why? The focus of these shades is to supplement your natural beauty, not to mask it. Isn’t that precisely what we’re all in search of… makeup that improves the appearance, but makes it look like you’re wearing next to nothing?

Of all of the products I sampled from the now-beloved N collection, MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish pressed powder ranks as one of my absolute favorites. This powder perfects the appearance of the skin, evening out skintone and minimizing shine. It also blends perfectly, leaving no evidence you’re wearing powder at all. In fact, it blends so amazingly that when I sampled one in a color at least two shades too dark for me, it still looked natural. As a result, this pressed powder can even double as a fantastic matte bronzer.

Who ever imagined flesh-tones could be so devastatingly sexy?

The pros at MAC! The recently released N Collection contains a gorgeous selection of naked shades to suit every complexion, ranging from pale to dark. As part of the collection, 5 new lustre-finish lipstick shades have been introduced. Specifically designed to closely match the skin while adding a hint of color and texture, these shades are ideal for creating that perfect naked lip to pair with a smoldering eye.

I had the opportunity to sample two shades from the N Collection. The finish of these lipsticks is a semi-sheer, satiny appearance. Shade 2N is a pale pink/nude that imparts a nude lip with a hint of 60s mod style. Excellent if you’re looking to match pale Caucasian skin, or looking for a pale lip to contrast dark skin. 5N is a raisin-brown shade that is perfect for any ebony-skinned beauty lovers looking for a naked lip, or for a fair-skinned woman who favors brown lipstick.
