I LOVE butter LONDON for so many reasons.
Firstly–and most importantly–the brand is free of toluene, formaldehyde and DBP. Why wear these poisons when you don’t have to?
Secondly, the lacquer has an impressively long wear-time. This busy, hands-on Mom needs chip-resistant polish!
Thirdly, their color collections are always perfectly on-trend. The butter LONDON holiday 2012 lacquer collection contains five shades that gleam brighter than Christmas lights!
Scallywag– This shade is a showstopper. I don’t care how dim the lights are at that holiday soiree, this shade will still turn heads. The brand describes Scallywag as a clear base with turquoise glitter, but check out the swatch at far left. There is NO sign of a clear base at all! All I can see is a vivid turquoise shade packed with tons of glitter. Incidentally, if you’re used to wearing a traditional high-gloss nail lacquer, these shades might be a bit of an adjustment. There is so much glitter, they feel a bit gritty after they dry.
Fiddlesticks– This deep pink shade has just a touch of magenta glitter that makes it gleam! The overall look reminds me of a candy apple! This is the tamest shade of the three, if you’re looking for something more subtle.
Fairy Cake– This shade is a sheer silver based laced with tons of glitter that plays with the light like a prism. Depending on which way you position your hand, the lacquer changes color, much like the sparkle of a diamond! In fact, I was recently telling a friend about this shade, and said it’s just like wearing crushed up diamonds on your fingertips. It’s truly that dazzling.
Other shades in the collection are Scuppered, described as a copper shimmer with pink, gold and green glitter. And Jack the Lad, an opaque moss green shimmer with gold, turquoise and green micro glitter that looks mesmerizing online!
Retail price is $14 each. Don’t forget to check out butter LONDON’s holiday trio sets, as well as the Lips & Tips collections!
