Right after hearing about Queen Latifah’s search for everyday women to appear in advertisements for the CoverGirl Queen Collection, I finally had the opportunity to get to sample some of the collection myself!
Just to get you up to speed… the Queen Collection is specifically designed to compliment darker skin tones, and (most importantly) to offer women of color more makeup options! With 12 different foundation shades, the Queen Collection promises to have a match for 97% of skin tones from Rich Sand to True Ebony.
But, I digress. I’m beyond pale, so the Queen Collection wouldn’t be for me. Or would it? The Vibrant Hue Shine lipsticks come in shades to complement every complexion, and the sheer and creamy color makes this lipstick look like a gloss, but wear more like a lipstick. Shiny Parfait (pictured in this post) is a beautiful mauve shade that is universally flattering. Shiny Wine makes the lips look like they’ve been stained from a sweet sip of Merlot. These colors apply very sheer, so one swipe is all you need for a hint of color. Looking for something more intense? Apply more! The lipstick also leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth, a side-effect I’m always searching for!
At the time I am writing this, drugstore.com is offering these lipsticks for only $6.21 (a song). The lipstick is available in 9 different shades, so if you’re looking for plum or chocolate, you won’t be disappointed! Click HERE to head over to drugstore.com to buy one!
