While researching safety in nailpolish formulas for my "Why I’m Throwing Away My 40+ Bottle Nailpolish Collection" I stumbled upon the website Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.
The Campaign’s goal is to require manufacturers in the health and beauty industry to phase out "the use of chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems." To be fair to both sides, the potential danger of certain ingredients is a point of debate. One side insists there is scientific proof these ingredients are dangerous, and the other insists that FDA regulation is extremely strict, and the chances for any adverse health effects are infinitesimally small.
Regardless of that debate, I was curious to see which of my favorites brands had signed the pact. I searched their database of "safer companies." Juice Beauty was listed as one of the signers. Quoting the website, Juice has pledged to "…not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve."
Juice Beauty has taken this pledge to produce safe product one step further with the introduction of Juice Organics, their new skin-care line that uses only certified organic ingredients. The Juice Organics skin care regimen is a simple three step plan: cleanse, treat and moisturize. Each of their products is labeled to indicate which step it fulfills. Purchase the appropriate product for your skin type in each step, and that’s all you need!
I recently sampled both Juice Organics Nourishing and Brightening Cleansers. The Nourishing Cleanser was a creamy moisturizing treat. It removed my makeup well, and my skin felt soft and looked clean after use. I highly recommend the Nourishing Cleanser for those with normal, dry or sensitive skin. The Brightening Cleanser uses hydroxy-acid rich fruit juice to slough away dead skin cells and refresh the complexion. I can attest to the fact that this really works! My skin looked downright rosy after using this cleanser the first time. The Brightening Cleanser is best for those with normal to oily skin, or for a periodic "refresher" by we of the dry-skin variety.
