Now that my oldest son is almost 6, he generally doesn’t find me interesting enough to play with. While his little brother naps, he runs off to play with neighborhood children and I attempt to tackle outdoor chores while remaining in ear-shot.
This led me to poke around in an old stack of paintings I had worked on back when I had so much “free time” I actually engaged in multiple hobbies. A painting of Mount Rainier, a lush forest hiking trail and the start of a painting of Venice’s Grand Canal were all in my garage, gathering dust.
The reason these paintings were in the garage, rather than on my walls, is that my husband and I generally prefer modern art. Abstraction, a bold mix of color and interesting textures are more pleasing to our eyes than even the most beautiful landscape. The second I spied MAC Colourizations, my thoughts turned to the very artwork I adore.
MAC Colourizations should now be available at a counter near you!
These two-hued eyeshadow pairings contain two contrasting but complimentary colors, each with a different finish. The collection is about contrast, texture and perhaps a bit of randomness. Colourizations capture the very essence of modern art in a wee two-pan palette!
The collection was scheduled to hit counters on 7/29/11, so do check it out.
Retail price is $25 per palette.

I can totally relate because I am pretty much a minimalist when it comes to decorating and my preference in art. Actually, this translates to my taste in fashion, as well. You’ll rarely find me in prints or patterns, so I like a pop of color here and there to seem less monochrome (aka boring). I love how these duo palettes combine bright pops of color with more neutral tones. I especially like the lime green with gray tone and orange with navy, although I can’t see one that I totally dislike. Since I’m not used to wearing bright colors, can you enlighten me as to where the “pop” of color should be around my eyes (lid, crease, etc)? Thanks!
