MAC is constantly blurring the lines between the "art" we hang on our walls and the "art" we paint on our faces. Their latest limited-edition collection–Make-up Art Cosmetics–takes it one step further.
MAC has selected three artists who exemplify this idea through both the subjects they choose, and the wildly individual styles and colors used to convey them. Bright shades, pigment-rich formulas and diverse colors are the rule in these Fall color cosmetics!
My favorites include:
From Maria Kalman (image below): Eye Shadow in "Off The Page" (second shadow from left, retail $14.50) and Technakohl Liner in Obviously Orange (second liner from top, retail $14.50). Who would have thought that orange eye color could be so utterly flattering and wearable?
From Richard Phillips (image below): Shades of green are HOT this season, and the Eye Shadow x 4 in "Photo Realism" (third shadow quad from left, retail $36) is a somewhat mono-chromatic green eye quad that is ideal to embrace this Fall trend. Lipstick in "Lovin It" (center lipstick, retail $14) is a warm shade of nutmeg brown. Powder Blush in "Notable" (second blush from left, retail $18.50) is a deep shade of terracotta that puts major emphasis on the cheeks!
From Marilyn Minter (image below): Rich, shimmery loose pigments are Marilyn's pick! Don't miss the deep eggplant purple shade "Push The Edge" (last pigment in bottom row, retail $19.50), as this Amethyst shade remains super-hot this Fall! To up the ante a bit, add "Brash & Bold" to your routine (second pigment from left in bottom row, retail $19.50). This bright pink shade can turn any wallflower into a goddess in 5 seconds flat!
Do not miss this inspiring Fall makeup collection!
FALL ’09 AS SEEN BY RICHARD PHILLIPS, PAINTER (top)
Using the expert skills of a photo-retoucher, Richard subjected his own painting to a M·A·C makeover with the new eye shadows, blushes and lipsticks. A collection of Eye Shadow quads, Lipsticks, Lipglass, and The Perfect Cheek Blush just leap off the canvas!
FALL ’09 AS SEEN BY MAIRA KALMAN, ILLUSTRATOR (bottom left)
Famous for her whimsical visual diaries, Maira Kalman performed a bit of magic with M·A·C's new Technakohl Eye Liners and Eye Shadows, instantly drafting a captivating look at a stranger.
FALL ’09 AS SEEN BY MARILYN MINTER, PHOTOGRAPHER (bottom right)
Minter’s erotic imagery zooms in on a succulently wet, red lip, a dappled, sequined eye, or a silverized stiletto splashing in the mud. Pigments in Push the Edge and Copper or Gold Glitter have the power to make anyone feel like they WILL be seen – and desired. That gift for sparkle is one reason Minter was a natural for the high-key glitter pigments in Make-Up.
