I FINALLY got the chance to play with the samples I received of MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow!
This summer has been a whirlwind of activity. My family has already enjoyed a vacation in the scorching hot hellish temperatures of Scottsdale, Arizona. We must be crazy, because we head back again soon! My boys have both attended various camps, played with good friends, and just generally enjoy the sunshine. We’ve spent weekends on excursions all over all over Western Washington. From beaches to amusement parks to farms and everywhere in between, we’ve been really enjoying the summer. As a result, I didn’t get a chance to play with the latest MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow palettes until mid-July. I had to hold off until I had the chance at some photography, and the waiting was killing me. Just the LOOK of them in the palette is absolutely gorgeous. Each stripe of the compact is a different shade, texture and finish of shadow. I love how they are different widths in the pan. My belief is this is based on how you would use them, highlight shades and accent shades have less product than shades good for overall lid use. The visual effect is that of modern art, and something I would seriously hang on a wall in my house if it was large enough!
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Review
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Greenluxe Photos and Swatches
The Greenluxe palette doesn’t actually contain any shade of pure green but rather has neutral shades with a green undertone. More specifically, the undertones are that of a military green and olive green. My favorite palette of the four I had the chance to sample is Greenluxe. It’s neutral with a twist, and contains an eye-catching metallic element.
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Smokeluxe Photos and Swatches
Smokeluxe in particular is a modern twist on the smoky eye with classic cool hues of deep gray and sooty black shades mixed with two metallics, one an antique gold and one more a coppery bronze. The luminous peachy/cream highlight shade tops off the look!
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Pastelluxe Photos and Swatches
I feel like my photos don’t do justice to Pastelluxe. The compact contains four shades of Easter Egg pastels in the most shimmering glittering finish that you could ever imagine. The overall look is that of magic. The shades are feminine but the texture and glitter give them an edge. The accent shade is deep metallic taupe.
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Brownluxe Photos and Swatches
Finally there’s Brownluxe, which is a more traditional combination of earthy tones and autumn shades, but also combined with some metallic elements, perfect for fall 2013. The compact contains two almost skintone shades. One is a very pale creamy nude shade, the other is a medium naked shade. The big surprise of this compact is the molten gold shade included that looks like you’ve literally poured liquid gold on your skin. It’s very smooth, not a frost, it’s just pure metal with a little bit of glitter in it. Finally, this palette contains a glittery dark brown that looks golden, and a pure deep brown that has a hint of a metallic finish.
MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow compacts are absolutely gorgeous, and definitely what the eye makeup of 2013 looks like. Don’t forget, these formulas can also be used WET, for a more intense look!
Shades not reviewed include Pinkluxe and Bleuluxe. Retail price is $40 per compact.
