If ever one image captured what will be hot for Fall 2011, it’s this photo from the MAC Prime Focus collection. Dramatic eyes, bolder neutral shades punctuated with color, lashes out to there, mid-tone lips, and flawless skin (even under a magnifying glass–gulp). Perfection!
MAC’s Prime Focus collection contains products that help to achieve the ever-elusive flawless skin part of the equation, while protecting your skin from sun damage!
Photo above: Prep + Prime Fortified Skin Enhancer SPF 35 in illuminate (left) and neutralize (right).
Neutralize swatch (above): This pale yellow shade cancels redness. This product is excellent ammo for those with rosacea, acne scars or breakouts to conceal.
Illuminate swatch (above): This pale lavender shade adds brightness to the skin. I like to use it on the cheekbone, to minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation, neutralize sallow skin and add a bit of highlight.
Retail price is $30 per tube.

Do they work together? I have the illuminator, which I love, but I was wondering if I could use the neutralize simultaneously to cancel out some blemishes. Do you know if this is possible? Thanks!

I understand the neutralize yellow primer is to cancel out the red but why the colour yellow?! I thought thats what green pimers were for.
Do you think they made the yellow primer so it could match skintones that have more yellow undertones giving an even finish?
I have yellow/gold skintones and i am wearing the mac neutralize primer in yellow on one side of my face and i can tell that it has visibly brightened up that side of my face. I’d say it has given me a slight even finish that has ever so slightly refined the pores on my skin. I only apllied a little amount because i was afraid of looking too yellow but the results are suprisingly good and subtle.
I dont see any traces of green pigments in this primer it’s just yellow. I dont have a problem with any redness but this primer has blended in reasonably well with my skintone leaving it brightened up and more even.
Does anyone wear this primer alone without wearing foundation?

Green and yellow primers are both used to cancel red. I would assume they use yellow in this case as it is a closer match for many complexions, as well as a way to hide redness. I think of green more as a “spot treatment” option, like for a pimple. I’ve generally used this as a true “primer” and do apply foundation over it. However, if this is a great match for you, I could see wearing it stand-alone.
