I’ve been having so much fun playing with Summer 2012 makeup! The key to be on-trend for the warm months of 2012 is to embrace color, color, and even more vibrant color! Most Adored Summer 2012 Makeup Trends
Lip Color Trends for Summer 2012: The hottest shades for lips this season are neon pink, lavender and orange. I’m a big fan of matte neon shades, like MAC Pink Pigeon shown at the top center of the image above. MAC Asian Flower is an opaque pale lavender that is this year’s of-the-moment pastel. Since 2012 is officially the year of Tangerine Tango, do check out MAC Korean Candy lipstick (bottom right) if you’re loving a shiny version of Pantone’s shade of the year.
Nail Trends for Summer 2012: Use your nails to get really creative! Nail art is back with a vengeance, so enjoy the opportunity to go crazy! Trendy nail colors are all bold and vivid. The most popular among this array of bold shades are a medium Turquoise Blue (like NARS Koliary in photo above) or a bright orange (MAC Kid Orange swatch at left). Naturally, a dark sizzling neon pink is a nice way to be on-trend and classic at the same time (NARS Anardana is the deep pink at the top right of the above photo).
Skin Trends for Summer 2012: Tinted moisturizer is as popular as ever, but the formulas for 2012 are more opaque than those in the past (think more tint, less moisture). NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is an excellent example of this. Bronzers for 2012 are devoid of the shimmer and glitter of yesteryear. Select a nice matte finish, or choose a bronzer that has an even all-over metallic glow like one of the three MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish Highlighers photographed above (left to right, Whisper of Gilt, Superb, and Glorify).
Eye Makeup Trends for Summer 2012: When it comes to lining the eye, the hue of the season is blue in just about any shade! My personal favorite is the universally flattering (and ageless) electric navy blue. In particular, I’m loving NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Dark Rite (top blue swatch) and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 3L (bottom blue swatch). Both shades go with anything, and have a metallic sheen that pairs well with sunny days!
