I was having some fun one afternoon, swatching and photographing, when it occurred to me that I wanted to write a post about a few of my favorite neutrals for the lips! Four of them, to be exact! Click through to see photos of each lippie, as well as a closeup swatch. From barely there to a deep nutmeg, these four can carry you from summer right through winter!
Four Neutral Lipsticks You Need
Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Edition
The Hourglass Edition Femme Rouge Lipstick has a gloss-like feel on the lips. The formula is sheer, and delivers a hint of a beautiful neutral pink shade. One of the things I love about Hourglass Femme Rouge are the details of the lipstick itself. It has almost a razor edge tip and an Hourglass engraved in the side of the lipstick. Hourglass = luxury! Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick retails for $30.
MAC Glaze Lipstick In Hue
MAC Glaze Lipstick in Hue is a super sheer barely-there naked shade, and the formula wears much like a gloss. Emollient and gleaming, this lippie can be applied on the run with ease. If you’re looking for a lipstick to tote to the beach this summer, this is a great choice. Click HERE to buy Hue for $15.
Laura Mercier Shimmer Lip Colour in Sandcastle
Laura Mercier Shimmer Lip Colour in the shade is Sandcastle is one of the new neutrals that I’m always raving about. It’s darker than skintone so doesn’t disappear on the lip, and has just the right amount of neutral color to go with pretty much any makeup look. I’m a big fan of this shade for summer 2013. Laura Mercier Shimmer Lip Colour Retails for $24.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Spiked Toffee
Estée Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Spiked Toffee is a medium neutral shade that features unusual umber undertones, rather than the more popular pinks. I find this shade to be an eye-catching neutral, thanks to it’s golden tone and gleaming finish. Click HERE to buy it at Estee Lauder for $26.
