The hottest makeup colors for Spring and Summer 2012 will be super-bright. My personal opinion is the trendiest look of all will be the uber-bright, almost-neon lip, but many will be too gun-shy to give that a whirl. Those of us more comfortable with a pop of color on the cheek will choose shades like NARS Gaiety, one of the blushes from the NARS Spring 2012 makeup collection. MAC In The Abstract Highlighter
Last year, I volunteered to teach my son’s kindergarten class about some of the art world’s greats. Our first lesson was a very fun–and very messy–delve into the techniques of Jackson Pollock. Each child had the opportunity to splatter, drip and dribble paint onto a gigantic canvas on the floor, in the style utilized by Jackson himself. [Read more…] about MAC In The Abstract Highlighter

MAC Headroom
I’m a child of the 80s, and love all that is 80s. Yet, I’ll admit I never really got the whole “Max Headroom” thing. Those of you my age certainly remember his bizarre presence in the Coca Cola commercials of that era.
MAC’s Optical Bronzer, from the Art of Powder collection, immediately reminded me of the backgrounds utilized while Max would speak in his halting voice… his angular face jerking this way and that. What was that skin/hair-do he had going on?
For those of you WAY too young to even know what I’m talking about, here’s the coke commercial.
Anyway… back to the makeup! This 80s new-wave optical pattern features a neon pink/gold pearl stiped pattern. The product is referred to as a bronzer, and I was a bit skeptical when I saw all of this bright pink mixed in! But the neon pink and gold blend together to create a unique coral-hued bronze with a matte finish.
