I positively love the way these waterproof eyeliner pots by tarte apply. They feel almost wet when they touch the skin, and a wee bit of product is really all that you need for vibrant color. Dry-time is moderate, so there’s plenty of time to blend and smudge away before the application sets! That’s actually useful for a liquid-liner novice like me, as I rarely get the application perfect.
tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner Pot swatches (left to right): blue (a deep slate blue with a golden sheen), plum (a warm purple with a golden sheen), bronze (a metallic looking brown) and black (a wet-looking black).
Want to know how to use the included brush? There are no “rules” per se, but I used the fine point brush end for application and the flat end for blending. The results were gorgeous?
Are these new tarte eyeliners truly waterproof?
You be the judge! Here is a photo of the tarte emphasEYES waterproof liners are the same tarte shades from the above image, after I ran my arm under the kitchen faucet for a few minutes. Let me tell you, the water-pressure was STRONG… and these stayed perfectly in place!
See a color you love above? Great! If not, there are more to choose from! I have sampled the brown, indigo and green colors in different product formats, and love their intensity! This product can also be used as an all-over shadow.
Retail price is $22.
Retailers of this product include Sephora.com and tarte.com.

I’m wearing one from a Tarte kit today and I just love it. These last so beautifully!
Adriana says
Is there a kit with all 4 colors? I would love to try them!! Thanks!
ragingrouge says
Hi Adriana! There are actually more than four shades! I only got to sample four of them, but there are six shades available. I haven’t seen a kit that includes all six, but don’t forget that items on tarte’s website are 20% off until tomorrow, using code FRWRK! Maybe buying them individually using that code would be cheaper than a value set anyway!

Even better…I assumed there were only 4 colors from the post! Waterproof eyeliner usually intimidates me, but these colors are so bold and interesting. I’ll probably get the individual pots. Do you know if there is a similar non-waterproof version? Thanks for all your great tips and answers!! Keep blogging!
ragingrouge says
There isn’t a non-waterproof version. These liner pots were part of a summer lineup filled with waterproof goodies, so you could be splashproof for the season! Thanks for all of your great comments… and keep reading!

Living in NYC, I forgot about makeup at the pool/beach! This would be good even for a hot summer day when makeup can easily melt off. I sometimes find waterproof makeup really hard to take off, which is why I’ve avoided it in the past. What do you recommend for removing waterproof makeup? Thanks!
ragingrouge says
Adriana. My favorite eye makeup remover actually happens to be reasonably priced as well!

Be sure to buy the “waterproof” version, and not the regular version! Ask a sales person, if you are confused. There is a huge difference between them! Good luck.

Looks like I’m making another trip back to Sephora tonight! The waterproof version is oil based, right?
ragingrouge says
There is definitely oil in the formula, but it doesn’t have an oil-slick feel to it. There are some formulas out there that are basically 100% oil. I hate those! There’s a trial-size available, if you aren’t in the mood to gamble on a full-sized bottle.

That’s great. I try to always take off eye makeup at the end of the day (especially since I wear mascara and eyeshadow everyday), but sometimes the natural brands that I prefer (Korres, Bare Escentuals, Tarte) don’t last through the day or night and the colors that I love, but shy away from (MAC, Nars, Urban Decay), don’t wash off as easily. I’m assuming I can use this one for to remove all makeup. Have you heard of makeup that is natural you can sleep in? I’ve heard that advertised by brands like bare escentuals and dr. haushka, but I’m skeptical…any thoughts?? As always, thanks!!
ragingrouge says
Even if it’s “safe” to sleep in, I would definitely remove makeup before bed. I have sampled Bare Escentuals and while I wish it could work for me, the foundation formula settles into my pores.
Adriana says
The biggest turn-off of Bare Escentuals for me is the formula, which I found to be really messy. The powder goes all over the place, so you end up wasting a lot of product. It also did not give me enough coverage and none of the colors matched my skin tone well enough. Right now I use a simple face wash and water to clean my skin at night and sometimes (on a lazy night) a face wipe, instead. I assume washing is best for healthy skin?
ragingrouge says
Yes, I agree that the packaging doesn’t help contain the mess. If the results were spectacular, I would have dealt with the mess… but I didn’t find this to be the case. I’ve loved tarte’s smooth operator finishing powder in bronze, which might be a nice choice for you and your darker skintone. There is only one hole to dispense product, which keeps that loose powder under control. Plus, a wee bit goes a very long way (and don’t forget that tarte’s 20% off sale ends today)! About cleansing, everyone has different needs. As long as your product removes your makeup, doesn’t irritate your skin, and addresses your skin concerns, chances are you are using the right thing.
