During girlhood, some of my most prized possessions were cosmetics. In the late 70s, I owned a Village Lip Lickers gloss in bubblegum. I kept it in the back pocket of my jeans, and would apply it to my lips with a playground-dirt-encrusted finger. I adored that gloss, and used it until every last bit of it was scraped from the side of the tin.
These fond memories have manifested themselves in some serious gloss nostalgia. Many have seen me wield a Chanel Glossimer in one hand and a Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker in the other. Am I alone in thinking the glosses of our younger years are a fond reminder of simpler times?
Apparently, the founder of TINte Cosmetics is in agreement. Stacy Provines has developed a fun line of product reminiscent of the gloss of your youth- complete with fun colors and flavors (and yes–even a tin).
Nostalgia aside, this tiny tin is filled with a gloss that’s worthy of an adult. I sampled Vintage Moisturizing Lip Color in "Blackberry Jam" and was delighted with the sheer wash of shiny berry color it left on my lips. This gloss even passed what I refer to as the "coffee test". Many glosses completely disappear after drinking a cup of coffee, forcing a Sisyphus-style perpetual reapplication. Vintage Moisturizing Lip Color left a very subtle berry color on the lips. Beautiful!
TINte Vintage Moisturizing Lip Color can be purchased for $14 at Makeup.com, TINte Cosmetics and other fine beauty retailers.
