I was asked to give Walmart’s Savings Catcher a trial, and it was easy to say yes. The Walmart near my home is HUGE–a superstore–and they always have something I need! I consider myself an expert shopper. Shopping smart usually requires shopping in MANY different stores, and remembering which retailer offers the best deal on each item. The new Walmart Savings Catcher really piqued my interest. What if you never needed to price compare, EVER AGAIN? Well that would save a ton of time, right? Keep reading to find out how to use Walmart Savings Catcher! There’s also a link to a contest at the end of this post. The grand prize is a $2,000 Walmart shopping spree!
Walmart’s Savings Catcher Review
My task was to spend $25 in Walmart on whatever I pleased. When I entered the store I was almost lost in the fun that was the Halloween section! So many festive decorations! But… I walked out of the area with only a small costume for myself. My youngest insists that I also dress up, so I pick something inexpensive and easy, a cat costume.
The beauty blogger in me could have spent every cent on makeup, because I really didn’t need much around the house at the time of this shop. But, I wanted to REALLY try to test Savings Catcher to its fullest, so I made sure my purchase was diverse.
Here is the actual contents of my cart from the trip. I purchased Bounty Paper Towels, Goldfish Crackers, Listerine, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, a cat costume, and last but certainly not least a tube of Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara.
Above is a photo of my receipt! To get the Walmart team to start comparing prices on your behalf, you need to create an account at Walmart Savings Catcher first. Then either download the Savings Catcher app on your smart phone and photograph the barcode on your receipt, or visit the website and enter the TC# that you see on the receipt above.
Once you submit your receipt, Savings Catcher will compare your items to the prices at local retailers. They will provide the names of the retailers as well as the prices they’ve found when there is a match. As it turns out, Walmart offered the lowest price in my area for all of the items I selected! If Savings Catcher had found a lower price on an item in their database, I would have received a credit for the difference toward use on a future Walmart purchase. You can save your credits to use for a purchase any time!
Pretty cool concept, right? You never overpay, ever again!
